Hello, all! Just a reminder to you readers that there is a Facebook group for the comic, which can be found here. Become a fan and spread the word!

I was about 8 or 9 years old when I first walked into the Atomic Comics by Metrocenter with my mom. I saw a guy playing Final Fantasy 7 and I went in looking for some Sonic the Hedgehog comics. It was just around my birthday too so my mom bought me the Sonic anime movie on video. It was instantly my favorite place to go as a kid.
A few years later as a teenager, I was able to leave the house on my own with my bike so I went there all the time. My first job was at Castles n Coasters so it was only a 5 minute walk away cutting through the mall. I spent all my paychecks there and would just hang out looking at all the action figures, comics, anime, cards. It became my little go to place to hang out when I was bored. It came full circle even when I bought the imported Advent Children DVD.
Then came January 2007 when I had to move to Wisconsin. I went there one last time with my best friend and we bought the Death Note movie on DVD, it was really one of the happiest times of my life. I thought someday when I go back to AZ I would drop in to that store and just feel so nostalgic, but I guess that won’t happen now…
Atomic Comics was more than a comic book store, it was really a second home to nerds and geeks like me and I’ll miss it dearly.

Yummy! A hotdog!
The last few weeks have been pretty rough but I’m done neglecting my share of all the work. You can see us both at NatsuCon this weekend (8/12-8/14) so be sure to swing by the Quazo table in artist alley. Remember to vote for us by clicking that vote button somewhere on this page.
Catherine was one of those games that was rated M for actually being Mature and not another shitty “Call of Duty” or what ever FPS is big nowadays. The same team who brought us Persona 4 on the PS2 went with a new direction for Catherine, their first effort on current gen consoles. This is more of an OVA mixed with a puzzle game rather than a dating-sim/RPG and it actually worked well for them. Most of the decisions you’re given can tilt your typical morality scale with “Chaos” and “Order” rather than just plain good and evil. You can also tilt your meter buy answering text messages certain ways, and answering a certain way can lead to more texts or even phone calls for more story and character development. These will affect how our hero Vincent will act during most situations in the cut scenes and affects which ending you will receive out of 8 possible endings. The other half of Catherine is the puzzle game aspect which takes place in Vincent’s dreams. The basic idea is to climb a tower by moving blocks and trying not to fall. It starts very basic but quickly throws different types of blocks at you and drops you in “boss battles” where the boss will give you more difficulty while trying to climb. It can get very frustrating even on the normal difficulty setting so be prepared for hours of trial and error if you don’t find yourself being very good at the puzzles. Overall Catherine is a very well made game with hours of gameplay that spans beyond the main story if you love doing block puzzles or unlocking multiple endings.
Final verdict: Pretty good.
Pros: Great story, great voice acting, hours of gameplay and replay value, many fun little easter eggs from Atlus (including music from Persona 3 AND 4 d(^_^)b,) Catherine is hella sexy(as is Katherine,) plenty for anime fans to love here.
Cons: Full of irritating trial and error gameplay for some players, story goes the route of a typical crazy JRPG and not in a good way but still tollerable.
Edit: I realized that putting a review score makes me look like a tool, never again! Fuck numbers. I’m changing my review system.
Sorry for almost missing 2 weeks in a row, been kinda busy with stuff. What kind of stuff? Well last week I had gone to Summerfest to see Rise Against, they’re always great live. Today I went to the Magic 2012 pre-release and got my ass kicked a bit as usual for those events. I’m not sure if our audience in interested in reading about Magic: The Gathering; but if you’d like to read my opinions on the subject just speak up and let me know! I really haven’t played anything new, so there isn’t anything to review at the moment. As soon as I can grab a new game and finish it you can be sure my thought will be posted here. As for Owaz itself, we will try to get more content such as podcasts out there soon… Not sure how soon but don’t hold us to it. Anyway, this is just a post to let you know I haven’t forgot about our faithful readers and there will be new stuff on the way.
Have a great week and don’t forget to drop by on Wednesday for a new comic, you CAN hold us to that!
