Comics about Boris really are a treat, which is why they’re so few and far between. I’m sure one day he’ll get his own storyline, because he is a personal favorite. The very idea of him was birthed on the long drive home from Otakon last year. I basically put on a Russian accent and a gravelly voice and starting talking in broken English. If you’re curious what that sounds like, it’s more or less a carbon copy of Watto from Star Wars.

I’ll be at ACen 2013 this weekend in Rosemont, IL. While it seems to be obvious, I’ll be in Artist Alley under the name Otakuz With a Z. You better believe I’ll have some new and rad shit!

ElimComic Two

Yet another Strip Search comic for your consideration. 90 minutes is really tough, but not impossible. This time, the themes were “mystery” and “naughty.” These two went incredibly hand-in-hand, or hand-in-private-area, if you will.

Not only are they perfect for making a hilarious comic, but perfect in the fact that I could see Chad’s real-life counterpart doing something like this, including the wordplay at the end. In fact, porn parody nomenclature is a game that Chad and I have played on long car rides. One of us says the name of a well-known movie, teevee show, or book, and the other must come up with a porn-themed parody. Hell, that’s where I got the idea for “Sher-cock.”

Strip Search: Home Edition

I know it’s incredibly rare for me to make a blog post that’s not accompanied by a comic, but I want this one to be easily accessible, even after multiple comics have been posted.

It’s special to me.

Last week, everyone got a bonus comic, aptly titled “ElimComic One“, in response to this article. In short, create a comic using the same parameters as the elimination challenges. In this case, make a comic in 90 minutes or less that uses two randomly chosen subjects: mermaids and ukuleles. Anyway, I submitted my comic idea (and gave everyone here a surprise Wednesday strip) and hoped for the best. Using the #ElimComic hashtag on Twitter, I was able to scope out the competition (if you even want to call it that, as all the other artists were rad and this was all in good fun).

I wasn’t expecting anything to happen with it, but yesterday, I got a tweet from Penny Arcade graphic designer and Strip Search producer Erika Sadsad:

I was, and still am, freaking ecstatic! The whole Strip Search audience got to see my hard work! The creators of the freaking show liked it enough to put it on their site! This is, to say the least, one of the highest points of my webcomic career. I’m going to use this as fuel to just keep on working my hardest at everything I do, especially comics. I love comics. I love making them, I love reading them, I love sharing them, and I love encouraging other people to enjoy them as much as I do.

While a second season of Strip Search isn’t officially confirmed, the producers would be silly not to do one, and you can bet your bottom dollar that I’m going to be gunning for one for those spots. Having my comic posted on the Strip Search site not only shows that I can do it, but I should do it.

So I’m gonna do it.

(I’ll post more on this as it tumbles out of my head.)

Tales From IRL, Part Two

Tales From IRL, Part One

For the longest time, my friends Ryan and Treavor would not tell me what I was in for in signing up for the Wing Challenge. From what I could gather from their sinister laughter and looks of devilish approval, ones that can only be derived from years of mutual love, it’s going to be roughly on par with the Mississippi Queen scene from Regular Show.

Only time will tell, and then I will tell you.

What’s this? A bonus comic in the middle of the week?! You got it! The lovable scamps over at Penny Arcade are doing a thing where you can submit your own comics that match the parameters of the Strip Search elimination rounds. This elimination comic’s topics were Mermaids and Ukuleles. Considering I own one of the latter (still working on the former, but living in a 95% landlocked state certainly does me no favors), I had to do it. I’ll be doing all of the elimination comics from here on out. Who knows, maybe it’ll help me get on Season 2 of Strip Search!

Anyway, enjoy a bonus comic!
